Square # 52 - Mommy

OK...so this square is from me. Years ago I first saw the characters of the Veggie Tales at Target. I fell in love with the little stuffed Junior Asparagus that lit up and sang a lullaby when you pushed his tummy (do asparagus have tummies?) When I saw this fabric at Walmart I HAD to get it for Olivia's quilt!

Sweet baby girl...I wish for you to learn and live all the things that this fabric says...
VALUES, KINDNESS, SHARING, HELPING, LOYALTY, SILLINESS, TRUTH, FORGIVENESS.

Her wish for Olivia is:

I have come to like little girls. (Maudee has passed inspection so far).
Just follow a few rules and we'll be fine.
Don't touch my food and don't try to pick me up.
I will sit on a chair and keep you company.
You can read me books, tell me stories, show me your toys.
I will show you how to take naps.
See you soon!
Love, (as long as you remember the rules) Katie

Square # 41 - The Cormiers February LID Group

Somewhere out there, beneath the pale moonlight, someone's thinking of me and loving me tonight. Somewhere out there, someone's saying a prayer, that we'll find one another in that big somewhere out there. And even though I know how very far apart we are, it hleps to think we might be wishin on the same bright star. And when the night wind starts to sing a lonesome lullaby, it helps to think we're sleeping underneath the same big sky. Somewhere out there, if love can see us through, then we'll be together, somewhere out there, out where dreams come true.

We wish you nothing but love, luck and happiness for you and your forever family.

Square # 40 - Aunt Anne Devlin

This fabric is a remnant from the fabric that Anne used to create Lily's nursery when they were adopting her in 2002.

This square is meant as a Red Thread connection between two Chinese Cousins.

I did not plant you, true.

But when the season is done-

When the alternate prayers for sun and rain are counted.

When the pain of weeding and the pride of watching are through.

Then I will hold you high

A shining sheaf above the thousand seeds grown wild

Not my planting, but by Heaven, my harvest, MY OWN CHILD.

Square # 39 - Cousin Lily Devlin

Lily is Olivia's Chinese cousin in NC. She was adopted from the Jiangxi Province in 2002.
Lily sent a quote from the poem "I Don't Have Your Eyes":
I don't have your eyes...
...but I have your way of looking at things.
I don't have your skin...
...but you have taught me what's inside is most important.
I don't look like you on the outside...
...but I look inside and in our hearts we are the same.
Lily said "Welcome to the family Olivia. Love Lily".

Square # 38 - Uncle JJ and Aunt Anne Devlin

Thank you to Uncle JJ and Aunt for this Chinese Fan Fabric.

"...but then, there's a cry that's the saddest of all. In fact, it's unlike any other. You're getting adopted, your getting a mother, and you're getting a family too!"

Square # 34 - Mike Gray (Skins)

As you may remember from a previous post, we helped Mike with the filming of the Mailman Matt segment of the movie he is producing. Since the filming of Mr. Bat was done in front of a green screen, Paul had to wear a green sleeve so his arm would not show up in the video. Mike decided to send a piece of that sleeve as his square for Olivia's quilt.
Mike's wish for Olivia:
May you grow up to be as good of people as your Mother and Father are, both of whom I count among my very best friends.
